Brown was coming off a first-round knockout win against Muslim Salikhov and in the first round, Brown had a ton of success outstriking 34-to-9. In the second round, however, dos Santos had nearly four minutes of control and nearly got a submission win. After dropping the second round, Brown took over in the third round as he outstruck the Brazilian 25-to-14 to get the decision win. With the win, Brown improved to 13-5 in the UFC and should get a ranked opponent next.
