5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (thumb) is expected to begin a rehab assignment on Friday. Molina strained his thumb roughly a month ago, but should be able to rejoin the Cardinals soon. Assuming everything goes well, Molina should be behind the plate for the Red Birds early next week. Matt Wieters will continue to cover the behind the plate duties until then. Wieters will bat seventh and do the catching versus lefty Jon Lester on Thursday. Wieters hasn't done much at the plate this season, so he can be ignored.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
