Walker Buehler 2024 Player Outlook: High Risk, High Reward Involved After Injuries
11 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler didn't throw a pitch in the MLB in 2023. This comes after making 12 starts in 2022. Though the 29-year-old has missed time and wasn't great in 2022, fantasy managers have some hope to hang onto. Buehler looked like a bonafide ace from 2018-2021. He was a 16-game winner in '21 with a WHIP under one and a 2.47 ERA. His career 27% strikeout rate is well above league average, as are most of his advanced metrics. He will not pitch a full season in 2023 after coming off his second Tommy John surgery. The former first-round pick is slated to start the season on the IL as he was behind schedule in his rehab. He will have an undetermined innings limit that could result in around 20 starts. If he can make 20-25 starts, it will most likely be considered a successful season for Buehler. His ADP of 130.3 would be a good place to grab him if there was a set date on when he will make his first start. You may want to push that back a round or two until something more concrete is relayed by the Dodgers.
