Washington Capitals goaltender Vitek Vanecek blanked the New York Islanders on Tuesday, picking up his second shutout of the season with 18 saves in a 1-0 win. Daniel Sprong scored the lone goal. Vanecek had allowed nine goals in his past two starts, so it was a very good bounce-back performance from the Czech netminder, who took his record for the year to 18-9-3. Vanecek has posted a 2.68 goals-against average with a .910 save percentage. Ilya Samsonov also recently posted a shutout, so Washington's goalies look very tough to beat right now. The Capitals have seven more games to go in the regular season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
