Victor Reyes 2021 Fantasy Outlook: Late-Round Speed With Upside
4 years agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Victor Reyes enters the 2021 season as the Tigers likely leadoff hitter following a quietly impressive 2020 season. Reyes played in 57 games last year, hitting four homers with a .277/.315/.391 slash line and eight stolen bases. The steals provide the most fantasy value when drafting Reyes, but there is more to him than some late-round speed. In 2020, Reyes ranked in the 62nd percentile for hard-hit rate but hit too many ground balls to turn that into more power. Under the tutelage of analytics-led manager A.J. Hinch, Reyes should be better guided to elevate the ball more and turn some of that power into line drives and more home runs. On a losing team last year, Reyes scored 30 runs, which equates to 81 over a 162-game season, and the Tigers will need to utilize Reyes' speed on the bases to score runs as they try to compete in the AL Central. Reyes was tied 33rd in runs scored, tied for sixth in steals and 24th in batting average among qualified outfielders last year. Despite this, Reyes has a current ADP of 191, which is 52nd among outfield-eligible players. Reyes is an ideal stolen-base asset to take in the later rounds of drafts and carries some power upside. He won't drag down your other stats, either, with a good accumulation of runs and a solid batting average.
