Trey Burton, Roquan Smith Undergo Surgeries
5 years agoChicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace revealed on Tuesday that tight end Trey Burton (hip) and linebacker Roquan Smith (pectoral) recently underwent surgeries. Burton played in just eight games this year and was placed on Injured Reserve with a calf injury. He's caught only 68 passes with six touchdowns (all in 2018) in his two seasons with Chicago after spending three years with the Eagles. It's unknown if Burton will be back in 2020, but even if he is, he won't be attractive to fantasy owners, even as a fantasy backup. Adam Shaheen could wind up stealing more playing time if Burton continues to underwhelm. Smith played in just 12 games in 2019 but still had 101 tackles (66 solo), two sacks and an interception.
