Todd Gurley's Days Of Being A Bell-Cow Over?
6 years agoLos Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley's (knee) days of being a bell-cow running back may be over due to concerns about his left knee. Gurley has been held out of on-field team practices this offseason for a "planned training program" and is trying to shed half a dozen pounds in an attempt to lighten the load on his knee. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that it's understood in LA that Gurley will no longer be the bell-cow back he's been the first four years in the NFL. "The days of Todd Gurley just being the straight-up, every-down bell cow are probably over, just based on his knee, his age, the position, the amount of carries he's had," Rapoport said. Gurley injured his knee in Week 15 last year and was limited down the stretch and into the postseason. The Rams also drafted Darrell Henderson in the third round to take pressure off of Gurley this upcoming season. Gurley will remain an RB1 in 2019, but the risk might appear to outweigh the reward now.
