Surgery Recommended For Andrew Painter
1 year agoThe Philadelphia Phillies medical staff has recommended that pitching prospect Andrew Painter (elbow) undergo right-elbow UCL reconstruction with ulnar-nerve transposition surgery. It's a bit of a surprise after recent test results showed that Painter's UCL was healing. The No. 8 overall prospect in all of baseball, per MLB Pipeline, will miss the rest of this year and most likely most of 2024 if he indeed has Tommy John surgery. The 20-year-old hard-throwing right-hander has a very promising future in Philadelphia's starting rotation, but this injury is certainly going to set him back some and put a damper on his dynasty/keeper status in fantasy for the time being. Fantasy managers that have been stashing Painter in deep redraft leagues can now drop him for another arm.
