Sterling Shepard Starts Jogging
3 years agoNew York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (Achilles) said that he started jogging for the first time last week. "I'm feeling good taking it day by day. Out at practice everyday taking mental reps, balls off of the jugs," Shepard said. He's not putting pressure on an exact return date this offseason, but the Giants are hopeful that he'll be back by August. The 29-year-old tore his Achilles on Dec. 19 but has made good progress in his rehab since then. Shepard won't be ready for the start of training camp, but barring any setbacks, he could be ready for Week 1 of the regular season. It was a wasted year in 2021 for Shepard due to injuries, as he caught a career-low 36 passes for 366 yards and one touchdown in seven games. He'll be competing for targets alongside Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney this year in a receiving corps that should have better injury luck.
