Oakland Athletics outfielder Stephen Piscotty homered in his first at-bat back from bereavement leave in a 5-3 win over the Red Sox, according to Jane Lee of MLB.com. In the second inning of a rain-delayed game, Piscotty sent a solo shot, his only hit of the night, over the green monster off Eduardo Rodriguez. It was his third homer of the season, but likely the most emotional, as it was his first since he lost his mother from a year-long battle with ALS. Piscotty has shown in the past to have plenty of potential. It is hard to say if the emotional rollercoaster will be cumbersome for him or provide the passion to play harder. Either way, it is nice that baseball players and fans have supported Piscotty.--Ellis Canady - RotoBaller
