Steelers To Lighten Najee Harris' Workload
3 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris led all NFL RBs last year in offensive snaps played and touches in 2021. "We are doing that a lot this year (that) I will not be on the field, I guess, (as much)," Harris said. "I will be on the field a lot — but on certain downs, I will not be on the field. Just (pick my spots), I guess. Extra rest." Last year, Harris' 980 snaps were 170 more than the league's second-most relied-upon back. His 381 touches were nine more than the league runner-up, and he was on the field for 83.5% of the Steelers offensive plays. Harris' 74 receptions led all RBs, and his 94 targets were tied for the NFL lead. Volume helped Harris finish as the RB4 in fantasy last year, and while fantasy managers never want to hear that a guy will receive less playing time, the reduction in snaps could make Harris more effective when he does get the ball. He'll still be a high-end RB1 target in drafts.
