The Carolina Panthers will make a left tackle decision on Wednesday if Ikem Ekwonu (appendectomy) is ultimately unable to suit up for the team's season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yosh Nijman and Brady Christensen are the leading candidates to start at left tackle in the event that Ekwonu isn't able to play. Nijman is a former undrafted free agent who is headed into his second and final year under contract with Carolina. He appeared in 16 games last year, making three starts. Meanwhile, Christensen has been with the Panthers ever since they drafted him out of BYU in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Christensen has primarily played guard in the NFL, but he's versatile enough to shift over to left tackle on a short-term basis. He played 100 percent of the offensive snaps in 2023, but that rate dropped to 39 percent last year.--Andersen PickardRead More News
