Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov will assume duty in the crease on Tuesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Varlamov had won his previous three starts before falling to the red-hot Nashville Predators 4-3 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. The Russian goaltender has struggled on the road so far this season, posting just six wins, a 3.39 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage in 17 starts. However, Tuesday's opponent is currently ranked 27th in the league in goals per game (2.58) despite sitting third in the league in shots on goal per game (34.3), so he is bound to see plenty of rubber. While Varlamov can be seen as a somewhat risky play this evening, expect him to be on top of his game Tuesday as the Avalanche look to climb into a playoff spot with a win.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller
