Sean Murphy Has Knee Surgery
5 years agoOakland Athletics catching prospect Sean Murphy (knee) underwent surgery to smooth out meniscus issues in his left knee, but he will be ready for spring training in 2020. Murphy, listed as Oakland's No. 3 prospect and No. 43 in baseball, hit .308/.386/.625 with 10 homers and 30 RBI in 31 games for Triple-A Las Vegas last year before hitting four home runs in 20 September games in the big leagues. He has all the makings of the team's starting catcher next season if he can just stay healthy. At a weak position, Murphy should immediately have value in most leagues if he's playing every day for the A's.
