Casey Schmitt Exits After Hit by Pitch, X-Rays on Elbow Negative
Casey Schmitt (elbow) left an 8-2 win over the Colorado Rockies early on Monday after taking a pitch off the right elbow, but it appears he avoided serious damage. X-rays were negative afterward, and Schmitt could play on Tuesday, according to John Shea of the San Francisco Standard. Schmitt started the game at second base and wound up exiting in the fifth inning after going 0-for-1. The Giants replaced him with Christian Koss, who's likely to man the keystone if Schmitt has to miss time. The 26-year-old Schmitt has hit .238/.311/.398 with nine homers, 31 RBI, and 25 runs scored over 75 games and 271 trips to the plate this season.
