Saquon Barkley 2018 Outlook: Just Give Him Rookie Of The Year Now
6 years agoAs a Cowboys fan, I have no desire to say anything positive about the Giants. But in fantasy football, you have to check your biases at the door. I don't want to hear anything about how Saquon Barkley hasn't played a down in the NFL yet. I don't care. The running back position is the easiest to jump right in and be productive. That is exactly what Barkley is going to do in 2018. The Giants have been trotting out sub-replacement level RBs for years since Tiki Barber retired.
Barkley enters a near ideal situation for fantasy. He has absolutely no competition for carries (Jonathan Stewart is beyond done) and is a very good pass catcher. Barkley will also dominate goal line carries. He is a three down back that does it all. Melvin Gordon has finished as the RB6 in ppr points per game for back to back seasons and I don't think Gordon is particularly talented. Barkley is like Melvin Gordon with generational talent. Barkley is a lock for 325-350 touches and combined with the Giants improved offensive line (drafting first round talent Will Hernandez in the second round), you can justify Barkley as high as the RB4 behind DJ, Gurley, and Bell.
