Sam Burns Is A Solid Start At FedEx St. Jude
2 years agoSam Burns has had a lot of success at TPC Southwind during the past two seasons. Burns finished T2 in 2021 and T20 last season. Burns has been up and down this season due to some struggles with his usually solid ball striking. When Burns is on his game, he finishes in the top 20, but he doesn't have a weekend tee time on bad weeks. With four guaranteed rounds this week, Burns is worth a start at a course where he's had success in the past at a low price of $8,100 on DraftKings.

Sam Burns Has Yet To Miss The Cut In 2025
3 weeks agoSam Burns finished T48 at last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational and is now focusing on preparing for The PLAYERS Championship, which will be held at TPC Sawgrass this week. Burns has not missed the cut in any of his six tournaments this year and has a solid history at The PLAYERS Championship. He finished T45 in 2024, T35 in 2023, and T26 in 2022. In last year's edition, over 32% of approach shots came from 100-150 yards. Over the past 12 months, Burns has ranked in the 58th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from this distance in the fairway. Given his recent performance and past success at The PLAYERS Championship, Burns could be a valuable addition to DFS lineups this week.

Sam Burns Could Stick Around At Arnold Palmer
3 weeks agoSam Burns has finished inside the top 50 in every event so far this 2025 season. The American golfer has not won since the 2023 WGC Match Play. Despite his five wins on the PGA Tour, Burns almost feels forgotten. Bay Hill may be a golf course that allows him to linger but not truly contend again. The problem is Burns ranks 87th in par-five scoring average. The Arnold Palmer has a few of those. Also, his moving-day scoring average of 71 ranks 133rd. That makes his final rounds more difficult due to playing catch-up. His birdie average is 4.75, which comes in 19th. Burns could be a decent DFS option if one is willing to risk the price. Odds to win the tournament are around plus-5,000 on DraftKings, though. Maybe a top-20 finish at plus-140 is a decent wager.

Sam Burns Could Have An Adventure At Torrey Pines
2 months agoSam Burns started out with a top-10 finish at The Sentry in 2025. Since then, the American golfer has seen his results trend downward. Burns did warm up with a 66 on Sunday at the WM Phoenix Open. The calling card for Burns is his putter. He has ranked inside the top 20 every single year in strokes gained in putting (14th in 2024). Through four events this year, Burns ranks 46th. The overall sample size is small, which indicates an eventual turnaround. With the Genesis Invitational being at Torrey Pines South, Burns could have fewer chances for birdies. Last year, Burns started off well in almost every early event. Six straight opening rounds of 70 or lower turned into a great start. This year continues to be more inconsistent.

Sam Burns Will Be A Big Play This Week But Comes With Risk
2 months agoIt's a difficult choice to fade a player like Sam Burns, who has two finishes outside the top 15 in his last eight starts. After all, he has become the type of player for whom it's easy to believe the strong form will continue, and it very well may. It is important, though, to be mindful that the former LSU Tiger has lost strokes on approach in his last four events (averaging -0.185) and off the tee in two of them. Luckily, he has salvaged most rounds with his stellar short game and putting genius, but for someone priced as high as him at $11,200 on FanDuel, you'd like to see a little more positives than what there has been to start the season.
