The Kansas City Royals have signed their second-round (No. 41 overall) pick David Shields. Shields, a left-handed pitcher out of Mt. Lebanon High School (Penn.), inked a deal for $2.3 million, which is slightly above slot value ($2,278,000). The 17-year-old has a plus fastball-slider-changeup repertoire with good command.
