Robby Snelling Strikes Out Eight Across Six Shutout Frames
Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect Robby Snelling struck out eight batters across six shutout frames on Wednesday evening. Snelling allowed just two hits and did not serve up a free pass. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the southpaw as he allowed 13 earned runs in his last three starts. However, before that rough three-game stretch, the left-hander posted a strong 1.61 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP across his first 22 1/3 innings (four starts) this season. Last season, the 21-year-old spent most of his season at the Double-A level, both in the San Diego and Miami systems. Across 109 1/3 innings, he held a 5.35 ERA with a 1.53 WHIP. Given his steady progress at Double-A this season, Snelling should be in the mix to move up to Triple-A early this season.
