Red Sox Put Luis Urias On 10-Day Injured List
1 year agoThe Boston Red Sox placed infielder Luis Urias (calf) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 21) on Friday with a left-calf strain and recalled infielder Enmanuel Valdez from Triple-A Worcester in a corresponding move. The move to put Urias on the injured list will effectively end his 2023 season. The 26-year-old Mexican spent this year with the Milwaukee Brewers and Red Sox, hitting a miserable .194/.337/.299 with only three home runs, six doubles, 18 RBI and 18 runs scored in 177 trips to the plate over 52 games played. In 32 games for Boston, he hit .225 (20-for-89) with two homers, 13 RBI and 13 runs scored. With Urias out of the picture, Pablo Reyes and rookie Ceddanne Rafaela will battle for extra playing time on Boston's infield for the final nine games of the season.
