New York Rangers left wing Alexis Lafreniere has finally agreed on an extension with the team, signing up for two years and $4.65 million. The 2020 No. 1 draft pick was a restricted free agent after coming off his entry-level contract. Lafreniere has struggled to live up to his draft status, but he did have his best season to date in 2022-23, posting 39 points (16 goals, 23 assists) in 39 games. At still only 21 years of age, Lafreniere has already skated in 216 regular-season contests, hitting 47 goals and delivering 44 assists. He's been a middle-six piece for the Rangers and faces plenty of competition for a spot on a scoring line.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
