Randall Cobb 2019 Player Outlook: Aaron Rodgers Product Won't Be Dak Prescott Product
6 years agoYeah I said it. I don't think Randall Cobb was ever that good. The starting slot receiver for Aaron Rodgers was good. Now Cobb is in Dallas essentially replacing Cole Beasley. I won't insult Cobb and pretend like he isn't better than Beasley, but that's a relatively low bar to exceed. Cobb should be the Cowboys' primary slot receiver, which is unlikely to have any fantasy relevance. Beasley was nothing more than a bye week filler when you needed someone who wouldn't get you zero. Cobb may be a little better than that, but Beasley's 75-833-5 2016 is likely Cobb's ceiling. With Amari Cooper entrenched as the WR1, Jason Witten coming out of retirement, and Michael Gallup continuing to grow, I just don't see the Cowboys using Cobb much on purpose. Prescott attempted a career high 526 passes last season and that looks to be his absolute ceiling. As the third or fourth option on a low volume passing attack, Cobb should not be drafted in standard sized leagues and is an uninspiring option in deeper leagues. Look elsewhere later in your drafts.
