The Chicago White Sox officially named Pedro Grifol as the 42nd manager in franchise history on Thursday. Grifol is a member of two American League pennant-winning teams and was a part of the Kansas City Royals' World Series champion staff. The 52-year-old will take over for Hall of Fame skipper Tony La Russa, who had to step away due to health issues late in the 2022 season. Pitching coach Ethan Katz and bullpen coach Curt Hasler are being retained, while the team hired former Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo as bench coach. Grifol spent the last three seasons as the Royals' bench coach, but this will be his first managerial job in the big leagues. Chicago was coming off back-to-back playoff appearances, but they disappointed this year with an 81-81 record to finish second in the American League Central and out of the playoffs.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
