Panthers Won't Retain Chris Tabor
11 months agoThe Carolina Panthers have informed interim head coach/special teams coordinator Chris Tabor that he will not be retained despite the two years left on his contract. He will now be free to seek employment elsewhere, according to a source. Carolina interviewed Tabor for the full-time head-coaching position before officially hiring Dave Canales on Thursday. The 52-year-old began his coaching career as a high-school assistant in 1993 and accepted his first NFL coaching job in 2008 with the Chicago Bears as their assistant special teams coach. The Panthers named Tabor their interim head coach in 2023 after the fired Frank Reich in the middle of the season, and he led the Panthers to a 1-4 finish. Given the fact that his special teams units have been strong in recent seasons, Tabor figures to land another gig with another organization this offseason.
