Panthers Re-Sign Kyle Allen
5 years agoThe Carolina Panthers re-signed quarterback Kyle Allen to a one-year deal on Tuesday. Allen was set to be an exclusive-rights free agent. The Panthers now have Cam Newton, Will Grier and Allen under contract for 2020. Allen made 12 starts last year after Newton aggravated his foot injury in Week 2, and he became the first QB in NFL history to win his first five starts with no interceptions. He then went on to lose seven of his next eight starts and had nine touchdowns and 12 interceptions down the stretch. Grier started the final two games in 2019 and went 0-2. Newton is expected to be ready for offseason workouts in April, and he should be the team's starter to begin the season, health permitting.
