Anthony Santander (shoulder) was with the big-league team on Monday and has progressed to hitting off high-velocity pitching machines, per Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling. Santander has been on the injured list since the end of May with left shoulder inflammation. 2025 has not gone as Santander or fantasy managers had planned, as the 30-year-old signed a five-year, $92.5 million contract this winter but slashed just .179/.273/.304 before getting hurt. He has been a consistent source of power over the past several seasons, so he could potentially provide a boost at the end of the season if he can return in time.

Philadelphia Phillies infield prospect
Aidan Miller has been named Eastern League Player of the Week for the second time in August. The 20-year-old shortstop tore up Double-A pitching, batting .522 with two home runs, five doubles, and seven RBIs over the past week. Miller has been one of the hottest bats in the minors, piling up 49 stolen bases and 12 homers this season. With Triple-A within reach and September call-ups approaching, Miller is a name to stash in dynasty formats as he pushes closer to Philadelphia's long-term infield picture.

New York Mets starting pitcher
Tylor Megill (elbow) will make the fourth start of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday, per the New York Post's Mike Puma. Megill will target a pitch count of 80. The 30-year-old has been on the injured list since the middle of June with a right elbow sprain. He has made two rehab starts with Double-A Binghamton and one with Triple-A Syracuse and has yet to allow a run with a 17:2 strikeout-to-walk rate in 10 innings pitched. Megill was putting together a useful fantasy season before his injury, going 5-5 with a 3.95 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, and a 29.2% strikeout rate in 14 starts and 68 1/3 IP. It remains to be seen if he can return with enough time to help fantasy managers, but they should keep an eye out for more updates later in the week.

New York Mets catcher
Francisco Alvarez (thumb) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment either Wednesday or Thursday, per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo. The 23-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to August 18 with a right thumb UCL sprain. He will eventually need surgery, but the team hopes he will be able to play through it for the rest of the season. DiComo noted that Alvarez will return to the Mets in September if he can play through the pain and produce offensively. Alvarez was putting together a decent season before his injury, slashing .265/.349/.438 with seven home runs and 24 RBI in 209 plate appearances. Pain management seems to be a key aspect of his timetable, but he could be a potentially useful fantasy option down the stretch if he can return to form.

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that relief pitcher
Justin Slaten (shoulder) won't need another rehab appearance and could return to the team in the next few days. Slaten has been on the injured list with right shoulder inflammation since the end of May and began a rehab assignment on August 19. The 27-year-old has pitched three scoreless innings with Triple-A Worcester, allowing no runs on just one hit and no walks with five strikeouts. Slaten was an effective option for the Red Sox before his injury, compiling a 3.47 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP, and a 17.8% strikeout rate in 23 1/3 innings pitched. From a fantasy perspective, Slaten did not see many high-leverage opportunities, which limited his fantasy value.

Jordan Westburg (ankle) won't be ready to return from the injured list when first eligible on Friday. Westburg landed on the shelf last Friday due to a right ankle sprain. Joey Ortiz (hamstring) was able to field grounders ahead of Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The organization is hopeful that Ortiz will only be forced to miss the minimum 10 days on the injured list. Ortiz landed on the shelf last Thursday due to a left hamstring strain. The fact he is already on the field doing work is a good sign. He'll still need to ramp up and do some running and hitting before being cleared to return. However, fantasy managers can be hopeful to have Ortiz back in the mix by early September.

Enrique Hernandez (elbow) was activated off the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Max Muncy (oblique) is scheduled to take at-bats against live pitching on Tuesday. This is a positive development in Muncy's recovery process. He began taking swings off a tee last week, and now hitting live pitching is a huge step for him. Muncy landed on the 10-day injured list on August 15 due to a right oblique strain. That being said, Muncy is eligible to return at any point this week. Fantasy managers should check back for another update during the week. The hope is that Muncy is at least back by the weekend.

Osvaldo Bido is expected to start Tuesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. It seemed like an odd statement, but A's manager Mark Kotsay said Bido will be the pitcher out there in the first inning. The fact he said that means this could be an opener situation or possibly Bido only throws a few innings. He most recently worked three innings against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. That being said, Bido probably won't pitch any deeper into the game than three innings. Bido has struggled on the mound throughout most of the season, so he won't be a recommended streaming option.

Richard Fitts (biceps) was forced to make an early exit from Monday's start against the Baltimore Orioles. Fitts came out to pitch in the sixth inning, but exited after only one pitch. According to Tim Healey, Fitts is dealing with biceps tightness. That being said, fantasy managers should consider Fitts as day-to-day. Colt Keith (illness) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff for the team's Monday series opener in Sacramento against the Athletics and right-hander
J.T. Ginn. Keith will return to the starting nine to begin the week after he was scratched from Sunday's lineup with an illness. He will not return to the field, but he'll be back in the batting order at Sutter Health Park. The 24-year-old has gone hitless in his last eight at-bats over his last four games at the plate, so he'll be looking to get back on track now that he's feeling better. Keith has one hit in just three career at-bats against Ginn and is slashing .261/.343/.425 on the season with 11 home runs, 39 RBI and 56 runs scored in 348 at-bats for Detroit. In 18 games in August, he's hitting a cool .304 (17-for-56) with three homers, four doubles, seven RBI and even his first stolen base of the year.

Oneil Cruz (concussion) is not returning from the seven-day concussion injured list on Monday for the series opener against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, according to interim manager
Don Kelly. The team is taking it day by day with Cruz, but Kelly said that the 26-year-old came out of his rehab assignment over the weekend with Double-A Altoona feeling good. Cruz had a locker in the clubhouse in St. Louis on Monday, so he should come off the IL and play in Tuesday's game.
Jack Suwinski is making another start in center field on Monday and will hit seventh against Cardinals right-hander
Michael McGreevy. Cruz is barely hitting over .200 on the year, but he's fantasy relevant in all leagues because of his power speed combination -- he has 18 bombs and a league-high 34 steals in 108 games.
