Week 16 Fantasy Football Running Back Outlooks
Evan Hull, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Evan Hull could see an expanded workload this week when the Saints host the New York Jets. In three games with the Saints this season, Hull has only had 10 carries for 31 yards, while adding one reception for six yards. However, with Alvin Kamara (knee/ankle) still not practicing and rookie Devin Neal (hamstring) already ruled out for Week 16, Hull has a chance to play a significant role this week.
After Neal left the game in Week 15, both Hull and second-year back Audric Estime carried the backfield, with Estime playing 39% of the snaps while Hull played 31%. Even if it's a committee in New Orleans, they face a Jets defense that has allowed the third-most fantasy points to running backs this season. Both backs carry fantasy value this week and are worth monitoring heading into Week 16.
Michael Carter, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon gave running back Michael Carter a vote of confidence on Wednesday, saying that the team was "very comfortable" with Carter serving as the team's top option out of the backfield as the team prepares for a Week 16 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Gannon's comments have merit, as the fifth-year back played a commanding 80% of the team's offensive snaps a week ago.
Injuries have absolutely ravaged the Arizona backfield in 2025, as James Conner (ankle), Trey Benson (knee), and now Bam Knight (ankle) are all out for the remainder of the season. While Arizona is out of the playoff picture, Carter will be a hot commodity who could be a valuable lineup option with favorable matchups against Atlanta in Week 16 and Cincinnati in Week 17.
Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams
Los Angeles Rams running back Blake Corum has been a very pleasant surprise over the last few weeks. Throughout his last three games, he has 280 rushing yards and four touchdowns, ranking as the overall RB4 in half-PPR leagues over that span. During that three-week window, he has boasted terrific efficiency with an average of 9.3 yards per carry. Corum will remain a fantasy-relevant running back heading into Thursday's Week 16 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, who have a strong run defense.
The tougher matchup is worth considering, but Corum's touchdown streak and elite efficiency lately should help managers justify deploying him in their lineups. His role is relatively safe, too, as he played a season-high 46% of the snaps last week as the Rams continue their efforts to keep Kyren Williams fresh for the playoffs. Corum should handle double-digit touches again in Week 16, so as long as he maintains his efficiency and stays involved around the goal line, he can be a top-24 fantasy running back. As it stands, he ranks as the overall RB34 in RotoBaller's latest fantasy rankings for Week 16.
Kenneth Walker III, Seattle Seahawks
Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III has fallen out of fantasy relevance. Walker does not seem poised to regain his relevance in a Week 16 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Walker has recorded three straight games with 10.40 or fewer fantasy points. His last two games have fallen in single digits. He is single-handedly wrecking your fantasy team if you start him. It does not figure to get better against a Rams defense that allows the fewest fantasy points per game to opposing running backs.
Walker played solidly against the Rams back in Week 11. That game marked the last time Walker scored a touchdown, and he recorded three receptions. Unfortunately, that performance seems to be an outlier. Expect the Rams to enter this week with a great game plan to handle the Seahawks' rushing attack. If Seattle wants to win this game, it will likely be through the air, leaving Walker as a flex option with little upside this week.
Audric Estime, New Orleans Saints
New Orleans Saints running back Audric Estime looks set to have a significant role in New Orleans' backfield for the Week 16 matchup at home this Sunday against the visiting New York Jets. Rookie Devin Neal (hamstring) has been ruled out, and veteran Alvin Kamara (knee, ankle) has yet to practice since spraining his MCL back in Week 12. After Neal was injured in Sunday's upset win over the Carolina Panthers, Estime and Evan Hull split the backfield work, with Estime carrying the ball three times for 11 yards and catching all three of his targets for 39 yards.
Hull had four totes for 12 yards but wasn't involved in the passing game. While Estime is worthy of a waiver-wire pickup going into Week 16's favorable matchup against the Jets, keep in mind that he had just three carries all year going into last week. Additionally, rookie quarterback Tyler Shough will continue to be a factor in the Saints' ground game, as he's had at least six carries in each of his last four starts. At best, Estime will be a low-upside, touchdown-dependent RB3/flex for desperate fantasy managers this weekend if Kamara doesn't return.
