12 hours agoBoston Red Sox infielder Enmanuel Valdez went 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. He blasted a solo shot off Reese Olson in the bottom second inning to the tie game 1-1. His homer traveled 399 feet with an exit velocity of 106.4 mph. He followed up that homer with a two-run blast off Olson again in the bottom of the sixth frame. Valdez was recalled from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday to replace Tyler O'Neill (knee), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 25-year-old is hitting .179 (17-for-95) with four home runs and 14 RBI over 31 games in 2024. Fantasy managers in deep-league or AL-Only formats looking for outfield help can consider adding Valdez to their rosters.Source: MLB
12 hours agoOakland A's reliever Dany Jimenez pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his first save of the season in the A's 11-9 win at the Atlanta Braves on Saturday. Jimenez allowed one hit and one walk yet provided a save as regular closer Mason Miller, who pitched two innings on Thursday, was given an extra day of rest. Miller remains the clearcut stopper for Oakland, but Jimenez, making his first appearance since his return from Triple-A, offers the A's a veteran option that fantasy users should consider if Miller is out for an extended period. Jimenez is 1-1 with a 3.45 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP in 16 appearances this season.Source: ESPN.com
12 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (hand) underwent x-rays on Saturday, which came back negative. According to Phillies manager Rob Thompson, there is swelling, and they will see how he feels in a few days. Suarez is considered day-to-day. The 28-year-old was removed from Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals after being struck in the left hand by a comebacker. It appears Suarez avoided a severe injury. The southpaw has been lights out this season, posting a 1.70 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts over 74 innings. Suarez is tentatively scheduled to start against the New York Mets on Saturday.Source: Matt Gelb
12 hours agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Bobby Miller (shoulder) allowed four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out none over 3 1/3 innings in his rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. He threw 65 pitches, landing 38 pitches for strikes. According to Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, Miller experienced a little velocity drop in his rehab start but doesn't believe the dip was caused by any kind of physical setback. The 25-year-old allowed three runs on 55 pitches in his previous rehab appearances. Miller has been out since April 13 due to right shoulder inflammation. He owns a 5.40 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 18:6 K: BB across 11 2/3 innings in 2024. Miller could be required to do one more rehab assignment before joining the Dodgers rotation. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Miller on their rosters as the right-hander could return from the injured list soon.Source: Mike DiGiovanna
12 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks right-hander Kevin Ginkel (knee) underwent x-rays on Saturday, which came back negative. Ginkel is considered day-to-day. The 30-year-old was diagnosed with a left knee contusion after being hit in the left leg with a comebacker during Saturday's game against the New York Mets. He picked up the win after throwing a scoreless inning before exiting. The 30-year-old is Arizona's primary setup man after posting a 4.09 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts over 22 innings in 2024. Ginkel has more fantasy value in leagues, counting saves and holds, but is mainly an option in deep-league formats.Source: Steve Gilbert
12 hours agoChicago White Sox outfielder Oscar Colas was called up to the big league roster on Saturday. Andrew Benintendi (Achilles) is expected to be placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. The 25-year-old is slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs, 21 RBI, 25 runs, and six stolen bases over 46 games for Triple-Charlotte last year. He does have fantasy upside after slashing .314/.371/.524 in 526 plate appearances between High-A Winston-Salem, Double-A Birmingham, and Triple-A Charlotte in 2022. Colas has a path to everyday playing time and is worth adding to deep-league formats.Source: Daryl Van Schouwen
12 hours agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (hand) was removed from Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals after being struck in the left hand by a comebacker. He is undergoing further evaluation after exiting early with a left-hand contusion. The 28-year-old struck out two over two scoreless innings before leaving. He is considered day-to-day and is expected to have x-rays once Saturday's game is over. Suarez has been terrific this season, owning a (9-1) record with a 1.70 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts over 74 innings. He is considered day-to-day and is questionable for his next start Saturday against the New York Mets. Stay tuned for more updates.Source: Matt Gelb
14 hours agoHouston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez smashed two home runs off of Minnesota Twins starter Joe Ryan on Saturday during the Astros' 5-2 win over the Twins. Alvarez collected another hit and a walk en route to a perfect three-for-three day with three RBI. His first was a two-run shot in the first inning and his second was a solo shot in the fifth inning. The powerful lefty had been struggling a bit with his power this season, seeing his ISO drop from .290 in 2023 to .173 prior to today's game. Notching multiple HR is a great sign for the lefty's power going forward. Fantasy managers need not worry about Alvarez going forward and he should continue to be in starting lineups as often as possible.Source: MLB.com
15 hours agoClayton Kershaw (shoulder) faced hitters at Dodger Stadium on Saturday afternoon during a live batting practice. This marked the first time during Kershaw's rehab that he has faced hitters. The lefty said he felt great and would likely throw two innings during his next time out in about five or six days. Kershaw is likely still a couple months away from returning but this is a positive step forward for the future hall of famer. His return to the Dodgers will be very welcome as the Dodgers' rotation, though more steady than in 2023, still is a bit of a patchwork rotation right now. Fantasy managers should monitor Kershaw's status going forward and prepare for him to be active at some point after the All Star Break.Source: Eric Stephen
15 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks reliever Kevin Ginkel exited Saturday's game against the New York Mets early after being hit in the knee by a comebacker off the bat of Brandon Nimmo. Ginkel was able to walk it off but had a noticeable limp. The team should be releasing more information on Ginkel's status later on Saturday, but until then he should be considered day-to-day. The 30-year-old had been having a subpar year after a very solid 2023 but was due for a touch of positive regression (4.29 ERA vs 3.93 xERA). Fantasy managers should keep an eye on his status going forward. In the meantime, Justin Martinez may get a few more innings as a right-handed option out of the pen if Ginkel is to miss some time.Source: Jody Jackson
15 hours agoSan Francisco Giants second baseman Thairo Estrada is out of the lineup on Saturday night for the Giants' tilt against the New York Yankees. Brett Wisely will start in his place. This appears to be a mix of a rest day for Estrada while also getting Wisely, a lefty, in a nice platoon matchup against Yankees right-hander Cody Poteet. Estrada had a solid May, hitting for a .731 OPS during the month. Fantasy managers shouldn't worry about Estrada's status going forward while DFS managers may want to take a peek at Wisely for Saturday night as the lefty is hitting for an .845 OPS and six RBI in 29 PA so far this season.Source: San Francisco Giants
15 hours agoWashington Nationals outfielder Jacob Young was removed during the 7th inning of the Nationals' 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Guardians. The team has not specified why Young was removed from the game but more should be released later. The 24-year-old was visited by team trainer Paul Lessard in the 7th and was replaced by Joey Gallo shortly after. Young dealt with back spasms earlier this season, causing him to miss one game, and was struck by a pitch in the head against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday though he missed no time from that incident. More should be revealed about why Young exited in the coming hours. If he is to miss any significant time, expect Victor Robles to pick up the slack in the outfield.Source: Andrew Golden
15 hours agoChicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi left today's contest against the Milwaukee Brewers early with Achilles tendinitis, according to the team. Benintendi had hit a a solo shot in the top of the third and then was pulled. The lefty was replaced by Dominic Fletcher. More information in regards to the injury has yet to be released by the team, but Benintendi should be considered day-to-day until his status is clarified. Should Benintendi happen to miss much time then Fletcher should be expected to play in his place. The 29-year-old had been having a very subpar season prior to today's game so fantasy managers shouldn't hesitate to drop Benintendi if they're worried about his status going forward.Source: Scott Merkin

18 hours agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Brendan Donovan (neck) remains out of the starting lineup for a second consecutive day with neck stiffness. As a result, Alec Burleson will play in left field this evening and bat in the six-hole. Donovan, who is typically in the lead-off spot, will cede those duties to young shortstop Masyn Winn, who was riding an incredible 16-game hitting streak through most of May. Donovan should be considered day-to-day for the time being and could return to the lineup on Sunday. Both Burleson and Winn have a difficult matchup in southpaw Ranger Suarez, who enters Saturday with a stellar 1.75 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 16:77 BB:K ratio and should be faded in DFS.Source: MLB.com
