2 weeks agoThe Arizona Cardinals have put in a request to interview Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero for their head-coaching position, according to a source. The Cardinals are looking for a new head coach after firing Kliff Kingsbury following the 2022 season. Evero was a first-time defensive coordinator this past season and led the Broncos defense to the seventh-ranked total defense. He is familiar with the NFC West, serving as an assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-15 and from 2017-21 as the Los Angeles Rams' safeties coach, secondary coach and pass-game coordinator. Ejero has also worked for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2007-09 and with the Green Bay Packers in 2016.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

2 weeks agoThe Indianapolis Colts have put in a request to interview Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for their head-coaching position, according to multiple sources. Quinn is scheduled to interview with the Denver Broncos for their head-coaching vacancy this Friday. The Cowboys defense is coming off an impressive showing in their wild-card win on Monday night over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in which they limited quarterback Tom Brady to just 14 points. Quinn was the head coach in Atlanta from 2015-20, going 43-42 over that span while leading the Falcons to an appearances in Super Bowl LI. He's been with Dallas the last two years, with his defense finishing fifth in points allowed and 12th in yards allowed in 2022.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN Dallas - Todd Archer

2 weeks agoDetroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has informed interested teams that he's staying in Detroit in 2023, according to sources. He was scheduled to travel on Wednesday to interview for the Carolina Panthers head-coaching position, but he feels that the Lions are building something special and wants to see it through. Johnson interviewed virtually with the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, but instead he'll return to what was one of the most entertaining offenses in 2022. He should be a hot head-coach candidate again next cycle. The return of Johnson is great news for all of Detroit's offensive pieces, most notably quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and running back D'Andre Swift.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

2 weeks agoDallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher will remain the team's kicker heading into their next playoff matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Mike McCarthy said they plan to stick with Maher despite him missing four extra point attempts during their victory over Tampa Bay on Monday. The Cowboys appear to have faith in Maher, but fantasy managers shouldn't trust that he'll rebound after that horrendous performance. Any fantasy managers streaming a kicker should look elsewhere despite the Cowboys still believing in Maher.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Ari Meirov

2 weeks agoNew York Giants wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins (ankle) was limited during Tuesday's practice. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned considering it was a walkthrough. Hodgins was listed on the injury report on Saturday before the playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. Although, Hodgins did end up playing and posted eight receptions for 105 yards with one touchdown in the win. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned about Hodgins heading into their playoff matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Dan Salomone

2 weeks agoJacksonville Jaguars offensive guard Brandon Scherff (abdomen) was unable to participate during Tuesday's practice. The veteran guard was likely just given a rest day, so nobody should panic yet. He was limited all of last week due to the same issue, which is a bit concerning. The Jaguars are likely to take this day-by-day, so there should be more updates on his status over the next few days. Luke Fortner (back) is also on the injury report, so the Jaguars could be shorthanded for their upcoming playoff matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Jacksonville Jaguars
Share:
2 weeks agoJacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (toe) was only able to get in a limited practice session on Tuesday. This shouldn't surprise anyone as Lawrence has been dealing with the same toe injury for weeks. The former No. 1 pick has been playing through the issue and it doesn't appear to be impacting his performance. That being said, Lawrence should see a full workload against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. His turnovers make him a risky choice in DFS contests, but he looked phenomenal in the second half of Saturday's contest.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Jacksonville Jaguars

2 weeks agoThe Tennessee Titans have decided to hire San Francisco 49ers director of player personnel Ran Carthon as their new general manager. Carthon has been the 49ers director of player personnel since 2017. He also worked with the Falcons and Rams earlier in his career. Carthon has an impressive front office career, so the Titans appear to be in good hands. He beat out Ryan Cowden and Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham for the job. In exchange, the 49ers will receive two compensation picks in exchange for Carthon.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Dianna Russini

2 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs wide receiver Skyy Moore (hand) was able to practice in full during Tuesday's practice. It appears the young wideout is on track to play after missing the final two weeks of the regular season. He has been dealing with a lacerated hand, but it shouldn't impact him during the upcoming playoff game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Moore could be worth a dart throw in DFS contests, assuming Mecole Hardman (pelvis) is unable to play.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Matt Derrick

2 weeks agoGreen Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said on Tuesday on The Pat McAfee Show that he's not ready mentally or emotionally to make a decision on his future. "I just need some time right now," Rodgers said. "I'm either all-in or I'm out." The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer fell short of the playoffs in 2022 and is unsure if he wants to continue his playing career despite signing a three-year extension before the season. He had his worst professional season, and the loss of All-Pro wideout Davante Adams surely played a part. Rodgers finished with a 64.6% completion percentage, 3,695 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 17 games played. If the four-time MVP decides to return in 2023, he'll be a low-end QB1 in fantasy, at best.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

2 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed on Tuesday that tight end Jody Fortson (elbow) has been designated to "return to practice" from Injured Reserve, which officially opens the 21-day window for the team to officially activate him from Injured Reserve to the active 53-man roster. Fortson is returning to practice on Tuesday after missing the last three regular season games with a sublexed elbow, but it remains to be seen if he'll be active this Saturday for the Divisional Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 27-year-old has no business being in playoff lineups if he plays this weekend, as he caught only nine passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games in 2022 in his second NFL season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Kansas City Star - Herbie Teope

2 weeks agoTexas Christian University wide receiver Quentin Johnston and running back Kendre  Miller officially declared for the 2023 NFL draft on Monday. ESPN projects Johnston as the No. 12 overall prospect for the upcoming draft, with Todd McShay listing him as the top wideout and Mel Kiper ranking him second. He had 60 catches for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns last season while helping the Horned Frogs to the National title game. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder earned first-team All-Big 12 honors for the second straight year. Miller was TCU's leading rusher with 1,399 yards and 17 touchdowns in 2022. He sat out the National championship loss to Georgia due to a sprained knee. ESPN has Miller ranked at the No. 155 overall prospect for the 2023 draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Steven Johnson

2 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said that wide receiver Mecole Hardman (pelvis) is the only member of the team who won't practice on Tuesday as the team prepares for their Divisional Round matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Reid said that Hardman has been "pushing it hard," but his issue has not been responding well, so the Chiefs will back off. The 24-year-old will probably need to practice at some point this week in order to play on Saturday, though, since he hasn't played in a game since Week 9. Even if Hardman returns against Jacksonville, it will be hard for fantasy managers to trust him in playoff lineups given the long layoff he's had. In his fourth season in KC, he had 25 catches on 34 targets for 297 yards and four touchdowns in eight games before his injury.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Arrowhead Pride - Pete Sweeney
Share:
2 weeks agoKansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle), who is currently on Injured Reserve, will practice on Tuesday, according to head coach Andy Reid. Edwards-Helaire landed on Injured Reserve in mid-November but has been improving and could be available to the Chiefs for the Divisional Round game against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Saturday. It will depend on how the 23-year-old looks in practice this week. But even if CEH is activated from IR and is active this weekend, fantasy managers shouldn't expect anything from him. Jerick McKinnon and rookie Isaiah Pacheco have been a great tandem in Edwards-Helaire's absence. Injuries continue to be a problem for CEH early in his career, as he played in 10 regular season games for the second year in a row, totaling a career-low 302 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 71 carries, adding 17 catches for 151 yards and three more TDs on 23 targets.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Chiefs.com - Matt McMullen

2 weeks agoThe Arizona Cardinals hired Monti Ossenfort as their new general manager on Monday, according to sources. Ossenfort won four Super Bowls with the New England Patriots before spending the last three years as the Tennessee Titans' director of player personnel. He comes highly respected in the scouting world. Ossenfort interviewed with a panel of Cardinals executives last Friday, including owner Michael Bidwell. The 44-year-old brings 21 years of experience with him to the desert. During his time in Tennessee, the Titans made the playoffs by winning the AFC South in 2020 and 2021. His first order of business in Arizona will be finding a new head coach after the team fired Kliff Kingsbury on Jan. 9.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
