The Washington Nationals announced their weekend starters on Thursday, as they will go with
Mitchell Parker on Friday,
Shinnosuke Ogasawara on Saturday, and
Jake Irvin on Sunday, per Mark Zuckerman, beat writer for the Nationals. The Nationals are coming off a three-game series against the Saint Louis Cardinals that ended on Thursday, while the Brewers had a day off on Thursday after sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers earlier in the week. As far as the pitching matchup goes, Parker will take his 4.72 ERA to the rubber on Friday and face off against
Quinn Priester. Ogasawara, who is stepping in for injured
Trevor Williams (elbow), will face off against
Brandon Woodruff Saturday, and Irvin, with his 4.78 ERA, will go on Sunday against
Freddy Peralta. The Nationals will be facing a tough lineup this weekend that is eighth in MLB in runs scored.

Boston Red Sox relief pitcher
Justin Slaten (shoulder) is currently not throwing, but is instead doing plyometric exercises. It appears the Red Sox have backed off the throwing program and are focusing on building strength in Slaten's shoulder. The right-hander has been sidelined since late May due to right shoulder inflammation. Slaten doesn't appear to be close to returning to the bullpen. He figures to need multiple weeks of throwing before getting back into the mix. Slaten isn't worth holding in fantasy leagues with his return unclear right now.

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher
Nestor Cortes (elbow) continued his rehab work with High-A Wisconsin on Thursday. The southpaw tossed four scoreless innings, allowing three hits, zero walks, and two strikeouts. Cortes only threw 54 pitches during this outing, but the Brewers don't want to push him too hard this early into rehabbing. Afterwards, Cortes said he'd have at least one more rehab start, but will probably end up pitching two games before rejoining the Brewers rotation. He figures to be ready to return before the end of July.

Athletics right-handed pitching prospect
Luis Morales has recently transitioned into a bullpen role at Triple-A Las Vegas. After posting a 5.90 ERA over six starts following his late-May promotion, the A's have shifted Morales into a multi-inning relief role over his last four outings. The early results have been encouraging. Morales has allowed just two earned runs on eight hits across nine innings out of the pen, showing improved effectiveness in shorter stints. The 22-year-old features a lively fastball that can touch 99 mph, along with a slider, curveball, and changeup in his arsenal. Fantasy managers should monitor this development closely. The Athletics may be grooming Morales for a late-season relief role or adjusting his long-term trajectory toward a high-leverage bullpen profile. Texas Rangers third baseman
Josh Jung went 1-for-4 with a single during their contest against Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday evening. Since being demoted to Triple-A Round Rock, the former first-round pick has tallied at least one hit in each of his five games. During this stretch, Jung has posted one multi-hit game and tallied just one extra-base hit. The Rangers optioned Jung to Triple-A earlier in July after he posted a modest .152/.200/.212 line over his last 26 games in the major leagues. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with Triple-A, as he should be in the mix to return to Texas quite soon. Before his slump, Jung was enjoying a productive campaign, posting a .283/.328/.450 line with seven doubles and seven home runs. For now, he is only worth stashing in deeper AL-only redraft leagues.

Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect
Dylan Beavers is heating up at Triple-A Norfolk. Through 32 plate appearances in July, the 23-year-old is slashing .357/.438/.607 with 10 hits and two home runs in 28 at-bats. Beavers saw just six games at Triple-A last season after spending most of the year at Double-A Bowie. He's taken a big step forward in 2025. The former first-round pick has already tallied ten home runs and 20 stolen bases before the All-Star break, flashing across-the-board fantasy potential. With the Orioles expected to sell at the trade deadline, Beavers is making a strong case for a second-half call-up. He should already be rostered in dynasty formats and is firmly on the redraft radar if Baltimore opens a spot.

Tampa Bay Rays first base prospect
Tre' Morgan went 2-for-4 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A Nashville. This was Morgan's third multi-hit game over his last five contests. While his power production has yet to show the top level of the minor leagues, the first baseman has shown elite eye at the plate. Through his first 41 games with Triple-A Norfolk, the No. 5-ranked prospect in Tampa Bay has posted a .287 AVG with a stellar .428 OBP. He has struck out just 42 times and drawn 32 walks. Last summer, Morgan split time between Low-A, High-A, and Double-A. Through 100 games, he posted a remarkable .324/.408/.423 line with 23 doubles, 10 home runs, and a 48:48 K:BB. If Morgan can continue to find his power swing, he could earn a late-season call to Tampa Bay.

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect
Lazaro Montes continued to hit for power on Thursday evening. Facing Double-A Tula, the budding star went 1-for-4 with a home run and two strikeouts. This his second long ball over his last three games. Since earning the call to join Double-A Arkansas, Montes has posted an impressive .273/.388/.636 slash line with one double and five long balls. The No. 29-ranked prospect on MLB.com began the campaign with High-A but needed just 67 games to prove he was ready for a promotion. Through this stint, Montes held a .269/.387/.572 slash line with 12 doubles and 18 home runs. In total, Montes' 23 long balls this season tie with the most home runs in the minor leagues alongside
Ryan Ward of the Dodgers. Montes is worth closely monitoring as he is developing into one of the best hitters in the minor leagues.

Miami Marlins left-handed pitching prospect
Robby Snelling tossed five shutout frames in his return to Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday evening. Snelling was recently promoted from Double-A after enjoying a productive first half. The No. 3-ranked prospect in the system made his Triple-A debut last season but appeared in just one contest. He looked quite strong in this start as he allowed just four hits and struck out three. He struggled with his command, as he allowed three free passes. Earlier in the campaign, the left-hander logged 72 1/3 innings with Double-A to the tune of a 3.61 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should monitor his development, as he could contend for a late-season MLB debut if he continues to find success at the top level of the minor leagues.

Boston Red Sox second-base prospect
Kristian Campbell was demoted three weeks ago to regain confidence and fine-tune his approach at the plate. In his 16th game at Triple-A Worcester, he finally notched his first home run. He went 1-for-5 with a three-run blast in Wednesday's 14-9 loss to the Rochester Red Wings. The overall results since Campbell's demotion remain a concern. He has produced just five extra-base hits across 72 plate appearances while striking out at a 31.9% clip, which is up from 27.4% during his time in Boston. He entered 2025 as one of baseball's most hyped prospects and showed flashes of his potential early on, though it's clear that more development is needed. The 23-year-old remains a firm hold in dynasty formats, but redraft managers can safely move on until he turns things around.

The Los Angeles Angels have placed infielder
Kyren Paris (undisclosed) on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Salt Lake. The team did not specify the injury. Paris has yet to play in a game for Triple-A since July 3. The 23-year-old was very productive in the major leagues during his first 15 games of the campaign when he posted a remarkable .366/.458/.805 slash line with one double, one triple, five home runs, and five stolen bases. However, after this surge, Paris would post a .106/.165/.176 line over his next 29 games with the Angels. Through 29 games with Triple-A, Paris has seen these struggles continue, as he has held a modest .228/.363/.436 with four home runs and a 32:18 K:BB. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should monitor his progression as he could be in the mix to return to the majors later in the second half.

Texas Rangers outfielder
Adolis Garcia went 2-for-5 with a home run, an additional run scored, and three RBI in his team's 11-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night. Garcia has had a subpar season overall, slashing .231/.276/.389 with 11 home runs, 53 RBI, 32 runs scored, and nine stolen bases in 359 plate appearances. However, there may be reason to believe he's a candidate to bounce back in the second half. Garcia has cut his strikeout rate to a career-best 24.5%, and his .254 xBA and .470 xSLG both point to some poor luck. The 32-year-old veteran still earns everyday playing time in Texas and could be an overlooked source of power and speed down the stretch.

Cincinnati Reds starter
Nick Lodolo earned his sixth win of the season in his team's 6-0 win over the Miami Marlins on Thursday. Lodolo threw six scoreless innings, striking out four while allowing three hits and zero walks. In 106 2/3 innings (19 starts), Lodolo has posted a 3.38 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 97 strikeouts. His 5% walk rate is a career-best, but his 21.9% strikeout rate is the lowest of his career as well. Lodolo entered the night with a 4.14 xERA, which points to some likely regression in his profile. Even still, he's a solid mid-tier option in fantasy with room for upside if he can re-discover some of the strikeout potential he flashed at earlier points in his career.
