There are key performances, prospect promotions, and injuries to watch for this week. New York Yankees right-hander Luis Gil allowed two hits and one run while striking out six over 3 1/3 innings in his last rehab start with Double-A Somerset. Gil has been out all season with a lat strain but could return to the Yankees rotation in late-July, making him a stash candidate for the second half stretch. The Astros promoted Brice Matthews on Friday, and he has struggled so far by going 0-for-7 with five strikeouts in seven big league plate appearances since the promotion. Sal Frelick is day-to-day with a Grade 1 hamstring strain.
