Justin Crawford Excels in Saturday Doubleheader
Justin Crawford helped Triple-A Lehigh Valley sweep Buffalo with a pair of productive games in Saturday's doubleheader. Crawford went 1-for-3 with a two-run double and a walk in Game 1. As an encore, he finished 1-for-2 with a two-run single and a walk in the nightcap. Crawford now boasts an 11-game hitting streak. The 17th pick in the 2022 draft has acquitted himself well during his Triple-A debut this season with a stellar .328/.395/.437 line in 206 plate appearances. While Crawford has homered just once, the 21-year-old speedster has racked up 11 doubles, three triples, and 16 stolen bases. Fantasy managers should monitor Crawford as a potential major league call-up this season. That's especially true if Phillies center fielders Brandon Marsh and Johan Rojas continue to record underwhelming production.Source: MiLB.com
Philadelphia Phillies outfield prospect Thomas Saggese Collects Two Hits, Two RBI on Saturday
Thomas Saggese was among the standouts for Triple-A Memphis in its 7-1 win over Jacksonville on Saturday. He went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, raising his batting line to .256/.350/.430 in 100 plate appearances at the minors' highest level this season. Saggese has also hit four home runs and registered a solid 12.6% walk rate with Memphis this year. The 23-year-old was more productive during a brief major league stint earlier this season, as he overcame a poor BB rate (4.5%) to slash a potent .341/.364/.512 with one homer in 44 trips to the plate. The Cardinals were dealing with injuries when they called up Saggese, but they sent him back to Memphis to receive everyday playing time when they got healthier. A return to the majors doesn't appear imminent if consistent at-bats aren't available for Saggese. As such, he's unlikely to be a factor for fantasy managers soon.Source: MiLB.com
St. Louis Cardinals infield prospect Ronald Acuna Jr. Smacks Another Homer
Ronald Acuna Jr. made some noise when he hit a solo home run on the first pitch he saw during his season debut on Friday. It was a beautiful sight to see after Acuna battled his way back to the field from a year-long recovery from an ACL tear in his left knee. The young superstar continued to impress with the bat during Saturday's contest. Acuna went deep again on Saturday off Alek Jacob for a two-run blast in the sixth inning. He didn't do much else as Acuna finished his day 1-for-5 with that two-run homer in the win. The 27-year-old is one of the most exciting players in the game and it's great to see him back and swinging the bat at a high level.Source: mlb.com
Atlanta Braves outfielder Luis Robert Jr. Collects Three Hits
Luis Robert Jr. did a little bit of everything during Saturday's game against the Texas Rangers. Robert has been off to an ugly start to the season, but maybe this good performance will help him get back on track. On Saturday, Robert went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, one RBI, two runs scored, and a stolen base in the win. The 27-year-old has struggled with the bat, but he's currently tied for first place in steals with Bobby Witt Jr., so at least Robert has that going for him. Honestly, the steal numbers are really the only thing keeping Robert relevant in fantasy leagues right now.Source: mlb.com
Chicago White Sox outfielder Max Fried Excellent on Saturday
Max Fried was extremely sharp on the mound during Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Fried was nearly untouchable in this game outside of a Michael Toglia triple to score a run in the fourth inning. The left-hander would throw 7 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run on six hits, while striking out seven hitters in the win. Fried improves to an unbelievable 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA as he threw his seventh quality start in his last eight appearances. He's slated to take the ball against the Los Angeles Dodgers next week.Source: mlb.com
New York Yankees starting pitcher Aaron Judge Blasts 18th Homer
Aaron Judge put his team on the board early during Saturday's game against the Colorado Rockies. Judge set the tone on this one with a solo home run off left-hander Kyle Freeland in the first inning. He was quiet for the rest of the game outside of scoring another run in the fifth inning. Judge finished his day 1-for-4 with his league-leading 18th home run of the year. The veteran slugger has homered in back-to-back games and is putting together an MVP-caliber season.Source: mlb.com
New York Yankees outfielder Elly De La Cruz Drives in Four Runs
Elly De La Cruz came ready to play during Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. He started off his day by hitting a two-run home run off right-hander Colin Rea in the first inning. He would later drive in two more runs with a single in the fifth inning. De La Cruz would end his day going 2-for-3 with a homer, four RBI, a stolen base, and a walk in the win. The 23-year-old has been struggling in May, but hopefully this is a sign that De La Cruz is going to turn it around.Source: mlb.com
Cincinnati Reds shortstop Joc Pederson Suffers Fractured Wrist
Joc Pederson (wrist) was hit by a pitch in the hand during Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox. As a result, Pederson suffered a fractured right hand during Saturday's loss. Pederson will head to the injured list and is looking at a lengthy absence. It's unclear if Pederson is going to require surgery, but he'll likely miss the rest of the season if he does have surgery. Pederson wasn't bringing much to the plate this season anyway. Fantasy managers should feel safe dropping Pederson for another bat with a lengthy recovery process in front of him.Source: Kennedi Landry
Texas Rangers outfielder Francisco Alvarez Resting on Saturday
Francisco Alvarez is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Fantasy managers don't need to panic as this appears to be a routine rest day for Alvarez. This doesn't come as a surprise after Alvarez went 0-for-5 with a walk and two strikeouts in a 13-inning loss on Friday. Luis Torrens will cover behind the plate and bat sixth versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin on Saturday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly and expect Alvarez to be back in the lineup on Sunday.Source: mlb.com
New York Mets catcher Mark Vientos Remains Out on Saturday
Mark Vientos (abdomen) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vientos will miss his second straight game after being scratched ahead of Friday's contest due to abdominal soreness. It doesn't sound like something that will force Vientos onto the injured list, but he might sit out the weekend. On Saturday, Brett Baty will take over at third base and bat ninth versus right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.Source: mlb.com
New York Mets third baseman Miguel Amaya Exits Early on Saturday
Miguel Amaya (undisclosed) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. Amaya was taken out of the contest after attempting to throw out Elly De La Cruz on a steal attempt. There is no official word on the injury yet, but it does sound like an oblique strain. That being said, Amaya is probably headed towards a stint on the injured list. If that happens, Carson Kelly would probably take over as the primary catcher. Also, Moises Ballesteros would probably be recalled and get a chance behind the plate in Chicago. Fantasy managers should check back for another update, but the loss of Amaya would give Kelly a boost in fantasy value.Source: Marquee Sports Network
Chicago Cubs catcher Kyle Finnegan Battling Shoulder Fatigue
Kyle Finnegan (shoulder) could miss some time after blowing a save on Thursday night. Afterwards, Nats' manager Dave Martinez mentioned that Finnegan could miss a little time while he's dealing with shoulder fatigue. The imaging on Finnegan came back clean, so it doesn't sound like the right-hander is dealing with anything significant. The Nats are planning on shutting him down for a little bit until he feels better. The expectation is that Jorge Lopez is going to take over as the closer in Washington until Finnegan is back in the mix. Lopez could be worth a look in the short term while Finnegan is out.Source: Mark Zuckerman
Washington Nationals relief pitcher Casey Mize Activated, Starting on Saturday
Casey Mize (hamstring) has been activated from the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Mize will make his way back to the mound after landing on the injured list due to a hamstring strain. Before going down, Mize posted a 2.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and 35/9 K/BB ratio across seven starts. The right-hander is hopeful to pick up where he left off against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. Mize has pitched well enough this season to warrant being rostered in most fantasy formats. In a corresponding move, outfielder Akil Baddoo has been optioned to Triple-A Toledo.Source: Tigers PR
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Alex Bregman to Miss Significant Time
Alex Bregman (quad) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday. Bregman suffered a quad injury while running the bases during Friday's game. Afterwards, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that Bregman is going to miss significant time with a quad strain. The injury is similar to the quad strain Bregman suffered in 2021 that caused him to miss 50 games. That being said, Bregman could very well be out until close to the All-Star break. In a corresponding move, top prospect Marcelo Mayer has been recalled from Triple-A. Mayer is viewed as one of the best prospects in baseball and should be an immediate impact player in Boston.Source: Fox Sports
Boston Red Sox infielder Michael King Scratched with Shoulder Stiffness
Michael King (shoulder) has been scratched from his start on Saturday evening against the Atlanta Braves due to right shoulder stiffness. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as the right-hander could be in danger of spending time on the injured list, given the severity of the injury. Instead, Sean Reynolds will get the starting nod this evening. Through his first 55 2/3 innings of work this season, King has posted a strong 2.59 ERA with a stellar 1.02 WHIP. Across this stretch, King has struck out 64 batters and served up just 17 free passes. Fantasy managers should expect Reynolds to serve as an opener in this contest, as he has never logged more than three innings in an appearance this season. He enters this game with a high 6.43 ERA and should not be targeted in any DFS competitions.Source: San Diego Padres
