Tyler O'Neill (knee) was sent back to Boston to get more imaging done on his right knee on Wednesday, which means that he won't be available for fantasy managers for the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles. It remains to be seen if O'Neill will be ready to play on Thursday for the start of a series versus the visiting Detroit Tigers. Manager Alex Cora said the additional tests are more for reassurance than the team fearing anything is significantly wrong with O'Neill, but it opens up more of a possibility that the 28-year-old will be forced to go on the injured list. O'Neill was forced to miss his third straight game with his knee injury and has slowed down at the plate since a hot month of April. If he's forced to miss more time going into the weekend, it will only benefit
Rob Refsnyder, who has been swinging a hot bat in 2024 in limited action.

Chase DeLauter (foot) is set to return to the lineup ahead of Tuesday's game for Double-A Akron. The 22-year-old top prospect was able to avoid surgery to repair a fracture in his left foot. However, DeLauter still missed nearly a month of action due to the injury. DeLauter has been looking like a star and should make it to the big leagues at some point next season. He is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline.

Max Scherzer (thumb) is scheduled to throw a "full" bullpen session on Wednesday. This seems like good news after the veteran right-hander was pulled off a rehab assignment earlier this month due to a nerve issue. The hope is that Scherzer can ramp up his activities and start a rehab assignment in early June. There is no current timetable for Scherzer, but at least this sounds like Scherzer is headed in the right direction.

Evan Carter (back) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. The Rangers will basically swap outfielders with
Wyatt Langford (hamstring) coming on the injured list on Tuesday. Carter was struggling heavily at the plate, so some time off could be a good idea for him. The 21-year-old was in the middle of an 0-for-21 hitless streak before going down due to back tightness. The assumption is that Langford is going to gain a majority of the playing time.

Nathan Eovaldi (groin) has been activated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The right-hander is set to take the mound on Tuesday following a three-week absence due to a lingering groin issue. Before going down, Eovaldi was pitching well in the middle of the Rangers rotation. He'll carry a 2.61 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 44/19 K/BB ratio through seven starts into Tuesday's game. Eovaldi will be on a pitch count in his return on Tuesday, according to manager Bruce Bochy, so he'll have a much lower ceiling in his first game back.

LaMonte Wade Jr. (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. The Giants expect him to miss around a month of action. This was expected to happen after Wade suffered a hamstring injury during Monday's game. This is a shame, considering Wade has been an on-base machine this season.
Wilmer Flores figures to see increased playing time at first base for the Gigantes with Wade set to miss time.
Trenton Brooks is at first on Tuesday and is hitting ninth against Phillies right-hander

Diego Castillo from Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday and transferred reliever
Justin Topa (knee) to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move to make room for Castillo on the 40-man roster. Castillo is a veteran of six major-league seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays and Seattle Mariners. He's a sinker-slider reliever with mid-90s velocity, a 3.22 ERA and 304 strikeouts in 268 career MLB innings. The 30-year-old earned the call-up to the big leagues by posting a 2.50 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, five saves and 22 strikeouts in 18 relief innings for St. Paul. The Dominican reliever has 35 saves in his six major-league seasons and will give the Twins some veteran setup depth in the later innings moving forward.

Spencer Howard was being discussed as a candidate to be promoted to pitch in a bulk capacity. Miller, a 26-year-old rookie, tossed a scoreless inning in Monday's win over the Phillies but hasn't gone more than 1 2/3 innings in any of his first 26 major-league appearances this year, which includes two opening assignments already this year. Because he probably won't go more than one inning in this contest, he's completely off the streaming radar. Miller currently has a 4.38 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 14 walks and 31 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings in his rookie season.

DJ LeMahieu (foot) is starting at third base and batting ninth. LeMahieu has yet to play this year due to a non-displaced fracture of his right foot that he suffered not long before Opening Day on March. The 35-year-old infielder could be eased back into starting duties at the hot corner in the Bronx, but eventually, he's expected to be the Yankees' everyday third baseman. Fantasy managers won't complain to have LeMahieu back as infield depth, but a permanent move to the bottom of New York's batting order will limit his counting-stat upside tremendously. The three-time All-Star is trying to bounce back from last year, when he hit .243/.327/.390 with 15 homers and 44 RBI in 136 games.

Jake Woodford from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday in order to make a spot start against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays after the team placed right-hander
Mike Clevinger (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. Woodford, 27, will be making his 19th career MLB start and first with Chicago in the big leagues after spending his first four big-league seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2020-23. In 10 starts at Charlotte this year, he's gone 1-3 with a 5.26 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 17 walks and 42 K's in 49 2/3 innings. In his four years with the Cardinals, Woodford had a 4.29 ERA (4.94 FIP) and 1.37 WHIP with a poor 15.1% strikeout rate in 80 appearances (18 starts). Woodford will be a poor streaming option on Tuesday but could be worth a look in AL-only leagues if he makes more than one spot start in the wake of Clevinger's injury.

Mike Clevinger (elbow) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to May 25) on Tuesday due to right-elbow soreness after he was scratched from his scheduled start against the Toronto Blue Jays. With Clevinger out, the White Sox have recalled
Jake Woodford from Triple-A Charlotte to make the spot start on Tuesday. The 33-year-old Clevinger got a late start to the year after re-signing with the White Sox after spring training had already started and hasn't looked very good in his four starts in 2024, going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.94 WHIP with nine walks and 15 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched. Clevinger could be stream-worthy in deeper fantasy leagues once he returns healthy, but managers in shallow-mixed leagues can continue to ignore him. If Woodford pitches well against Toronto on Tuesday, he could stick around for another spot start.

The former third-rounder in 2019 currently has a .261/.299/.379 slash line with five home runs, 17 RBI, eight stolen bases and 23 runs scored in his 203 at-bats. Harris is riding a modest four-game hitting streak heading into Tuesday's contest, going 6-for-15 (all singles) during that span with no RBI and a stolen base. He has a hit and an RBI in two career at-bats against Irvin.

Tyler Nevin for assignment in a corresponding move. Diaz is finally back from a strained right calf that he suffered in spring training in early March, but he won't immediately return to Oakland's starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 33-year-old hit just .154 in 32 plate appearances in 10 games during his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas and is probably going to be a utility man for the A's until further notice, making him only attractive as depth in AL-only leagues behind

Abraham Toro at second base. Nevin had become a waiver-wire consideration in deeper fantasy leagues due to his hot start in April, but since then he's had just one hit in 43 at-bats and is off the active roster.
