Not Much Certainty In Cincinnati Behind Joe Mixon
1 year agoCincinnati Bengals running back Chris Evans looked to have won the third-down role in training camp, but head coach Zac Taylor said last week he was still competing with Trayveon Williams, who has returned from an ankle injury. It's a valuable spot on the roster behind starter Joe Mixon, but The Athletic's Paul Dehner Jr. thinks it's a spot that could change during the season, and there's not much certainty beyond Evans' encouraging camp. Rookie Chase Brown is intriguing with his development in the passing game, but he'll likely be a non-factor on passing downs, barring an injury. Dehner expects Mixon to hold down the majority of touches on early downs in 2023 unless he struggles early on. Evans is your best bet as a handcuff to Mixon, but that could change some point this year.
