Nolan Gorman Starting On The Bench Against Bucs
Nolan Gorman is starting on the bench for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at Busch Stadium. This could be more of a regular occurrence against right-handed pitchers for Gorman, who has struggled mightily to a .175/.286/.302 slash line in his first 63 at-bats of 2025. The 24-year-old former 19th overall pick in 2018 has a home run, nine RBI, 10 runs scored, 11 walks and 21 strikeouts in 21 games played. Brendan Donovan is starting at second base and batting third, Alec Burleson is at first base and hitting sixth, and Willson Contreras is the designated hitter and batting fifth against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Donovan has three hits and an RBI in 10 career at-bats against Skenes, while Burleson has hit .417 with two RBI in 12 at-bats against him. Contreras is hitless in his six at-bats versus Skenes.
