The Boston Red Sox selected Archbishop Mitty High School second baseman Nick Yorke with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 MLB draft on Wednesday. This pick was a bit of a reach, as most scouts saw Yorke coming off the board in the second round, but the Red Sox are taking a different approach to the shortened draft this year. Yorke is a hit-first second baseman with a pure swing and an advanced approach at the plate. While he could be a nice run-producer at the next level, shoulder surgery caused him to be a designated hitter for all of his junior year in 2019. Yorke played shortstop in high school and has the instincts at the position, but he might be better suited as an offensive-minded second baseman in the minors.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
