Athletics first base prospect Nick Kurtz went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run shot and a walk during their loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday evening. Kurtz went deep in the final frame off Phillies right-hander Jordan Romano. This home run scored backstop Shea Langeliers and designated hitter Brent Rooker. Over his last four games, the top prospect has begun to find his power swing at the major league level. During this stretch, Kurtz has gone deep four times, tallied eight RBI, and held a 4:3 K:BB. Prior to this recent surge at the plate, the Wake Forest product posted a low .208/.259/.299 slash line with just two doubles and a home run across his first 23 games in the majors.
