Nationals Interested In Kyle Schwarber
4 years agoThe Washington Nationals are interested in free-agent outfielder Kyle Schwarber, who could add some nice pop to the middle of their lineup despite posting a .701 OPS during the shortened 2020 season. Washington has a very clear outfield need this winter, especially after former right fielder Adam Eaton signed a deal with the White Sox. The Nationals finished 10th in the National League last season with 66 home runs and have felt the loss of star third baseman Anthony Rendon. Schwarber has ties to manager Dave Martinez dating back to Martinez's days as former Cubs manager Joe Maddon's bench coach from 2015-17. The 27-year-old lefty slugger hit just .188 last year. He's never had an average above .250 in his six seasons, but Schwarber hit 38 long balls and drove in 92 runs in 155 games for Chicago in 2019 and still has fantasy relevant pop over a full season.
