Nate Pearson Dealing With Sports Hernia
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said that right-hander Nate Pearson's (hernia) injury issues have been related to a sports hernia. Pearson will pitch in relief the rest of the year and is scheduled to get back on a mound next week. Atkins says the plan is to get Pearson back into the rotation next season to continue his development as a starter. The hard-throwing 24-year-old could become a relief option for Toronto in the near future, but he probably can be left to the waiver wire in redraft leagues the rest of the way. Pearson made just one start this year before landing on the injury list, allowing three earned runs on four hits while walking five and striking out none in 2 1/3 innings. His high-end strikeout upside makes him worthy of stashing in all dynasty/keeper leagues.
