Mets To Promote Ronny Mauricio On Friday
1 year agoThe New York Mets are planning to promote touted prospect Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday when rosters expand to 28. Mauricio, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is well-deserving of the call-up. He's hit .295/.349/.511 with an .860 OPS, 23 home runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 71 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 76 runs scored in 115 games and 527 plate appearances for Syracuse this year on the farm. The 22-year-old can pretty much play anywhere on the diamond, but he's likely to take over everyday duties at the hot corner in New York to close out the season for the disappointing Mets. The Dominican switch-hitter stands at 6-foot-3 should be an immediate waiver-wire addition in most leagues, mainly because of his power. Mauricio could eventually settle into a corner-outfield spot down the road.
