Mets' Offer To Trevor Bauer For 3-4 Years
4 years agoThe New York Mets offer to free-agent starting pitcher Trevor Bauer is thought to be for three to four years with opt-outs and less than the record $36 million annual average value. The Los Angeles Dodgers have similar interest in the right-hander but are unlikely to go for a long deal. Some teams think that Bauer is seeking a much longer deal, and pitching comparisons they've used are also long deals -- Gerrit Cole ($324 million) and Stephen Strasburg ($245 million). Unless a mystery team emerges, it could be a two-team race between the Mets and Dodgers. The Padres showed some interest before trading for Blake Snell, Yu Darvish and Joe Musgrove. Wherever Bauer lands, he'll be a top-five fantasy starter/ace after winning the 2020 National League Cy Young with the Reds.
