Melvin Gordon Expected To See More Work Against Steelers
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is expected to see his snap count rise in Week 6 against the Steelers in his second game of the year after his lengthy contract holdout. Gordon played just 32 offensive snaps in Week 5 against the Broncos. "I mean, I think last week Austin Ekeler's rep count was much higher than Melvin’s. You could see Melvin’s going up this week," head coach Anthony Lynn said. Ekeler played 46 of the team's 70 offensive plays last Sunday and had 18 touches, including 15 catches for 93 yards. Gordon had 16 touches but ran for just 38 yards. Ekeler should start to lose even more work to Gordon as the season progresses, but his involvement in the passing game continues to give him RB2 upside. Gordon is a much safer RB2 investment on Sunday night.
