Toronto Maple Leafs left wing Max Pacioretty (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve earlier on Friday. In a corresponding move, the Leafs recalled defenseman Marshall Rifai from the AHL. Since this move to the IR is retroactive to February 8, Pacioretty is eligible to return after Friday's contest. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to their next game on Sunday evening against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Over his previous five contests, Pacioretty has tallied one point (one helper) with a +0 rating, 13 shots on goal and 16 hits. Across 37 games played, the 36-year-old has found the back of the net five times and added eight helpers. While Pacioretty remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Pontus Holmberg to continue to play on the second offensive line.--Andy Smith
