Edmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed) has been ruled out for Round 1 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Last week, Ekholm returned to the lineup from a seven-game absence but lasted less than two minutes in a 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks, aggravating an undisclosed ailment he has been dealing with for some time. The Swedish rearguard finished the regular season with 33 points (nine goals, 24 assists) in 65 games, averaging 22:12 of ice time. Edmonton is also without Jake Walman (undisclosed) and has lost Troy Stecher (undisclosed) ahead of Monday's tilt against the Los Angeles Kings, leaving the blue line thin.--Taavi Pailk
