Matthew Stafford Will Avoid Surgery
2 years agoLos Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said that as far as he's aware, quarterback Matthew Stafford will not need any sort of surgery as he recovers from a spinal-cord contusion. McVay reiterated that he expects Stafford to have a healthy offseason. It's good news for the 34-year-old, but we won't see Stafford again in 2022. After winning a Super Bowl title last year, the Rams and Stafford were extremely disappointing this year. He managed to play in nine games, throwing for 2,087 yards, 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 303 attempts. Stafford could bounce back in 2023 with better health, but this year was a reminder that 14 years in the NFL have taken a toll on his body. Baker Mayfield is expected to start under center for the Rams for the final four games of the season.
