Matt McLain Impressing In First MLB Season
1 year agoCincinnati Reds rookie shortstop Matt McLain has only played in 50 games in his first big-league season this year, but he's been very impressive so far for the first-place Reds. Heading into this week's All-Star break, he's slashing .301/.366/.512 with an .878 OPS, seven home runs, 16 doubles, four triples, 29 RBI, seven stolen bases and 37 runs scored in 235 plate appearances. The 23-year-old picked up his first multi-steal game over the weekend and continues to contribute across all categories for fantasy managers in a much-improved Reds lineup. So far in July, he's hitting .243 (9-for-37) with no homers, four doubles, two RBI, three steals and four runs in nine games. McLain will continue to be an everyday player for the upstart Reds in the second half.
