Mark Vientos Still Absent Against Phillies
Mark Vientos (groin) remains out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field. Vientos will be missing his second straight game after leaving Saturday's game early against the St. Louis Cardinals with a groin injury. The good news is that Vientos was able to hit and take ground balls on Monday, so perhaps he'll be able to return for Tuesday's game in New York. After breaking out in 2024, the 25-year-old is enduring an early sophomore slump in 2025, as he's hitting .167 (12-for-72) with two homers, six RBI and 14 strikeouts in his first 20 games. He'll be given plenty of rope to try and bounce back, though, when he returns from his injury. Brett Baty is getting the start at the hot corner and is batting eighth against Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola on Monday. He's hitless in seven career at-bats against Nola.
