Marcus Semien 2021 Fantasy Outlook: Bounce-Back Potential In New Home
4 years agoIt is clear that 2019 will end up being Toronto Blue Jays infielder Marcus Semien's career season. But the 30-year-old will still have plenty to offer fantasy managers now that he's a part of the rising Blue Jays lineup. Do not put too much stock in Semien's disappointing 2020 for a few reasons. He had a low .260 BABIP. He stuck out only 20% of the time (close to career average) while walking at an 11% clip (above career norm). In rotisserie leagues, Semien is even more valuable, as he has the potential for double-digit steals. This is an old but familiar story/sequence. We have an undervalued player for years, a career year and an overvalued player the following year hitting regression. And now we await the bounce-back year after a shortened season in which many of the top players struggled. For Semien, the potential bounce-back season will come with an upgrade of both ballpark and lineup in '21, and he will gain second base eligibility.
