Marcus Mariota Expected To Sign Reworked Deal With Raiders
4 years agoLas Vegas Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota is expected to sign a reworked contract with the team, according to sources. He'll receive a one-year deal worth $3.5 million with a chance to make up to $8 million through incentives. The Raiders wanted Mariota to take a pay cut to $3 million for the 2021 season, but he negotiated up and has a chance for some upside. The contract is also tradable if the opportunity arises. Mariota was originally scheduled to make $10.7 million on the non-guaranteed second year of his two-year deal, which was prohibitive for a backup quarterback in a year in which the salary cap dropped $16 million. The former Tennessee Titan is sticking in Las Vegas for now, but QB-needy teams could come calling if injuries arise this summer or early on in the 2021 season.
