In the closest fight on the main card on Saturday night, Manel Kape (15-6) was just shy of earning his first UFC victory, dropping a split decision to Matheus Nicolau. Statistically, Kape out-struck Nicolau in the significant-strike department, landing 61 significant strikes (73 total strikes.) Kape did not attempt any takedowns but did stuff seven of Nicolau's nine takedown tries. Kape's best round came in the second, when he landed a big uppercut that stunned his opponent. Though it was an extremely close third round, the judges went with Nicolau for the split decision. Kape may not compete for the title in the UFC, but he will put on a show and earn some wins soon.--Matt Bricker
